Playing Card Facts
So for the past two months, I invested over $200 on cards from misfits and spades. Dayumn. I discovered/noticed/experimented/etc some quite interesting facts about playing cards. These facts can save the life of your cards, so yeah I'll write it down. Feel free to try them Also , I would request this topic to be stickied if possible. It is also suggested that you read everything before trying any of them.
-Faro shuffling your decks :
-Has no effect on new cards
-For moderately used cards ( more than one week of use ), your cards fan better than usual
- for old decks , don't. You'll just ruin them more. Unless you applied fanning powder to your deck, it gets better.
-Freezing the deck :
-Sometimes people leave their cards in their room while they sleep, with the aircond on. Well, protip ; don't.
-Sure, when you wake up, pick up that deck, fan them, they fan as tasty and good as pie. This effect only lasts as long as its still cold.
-You leave your room and head somewhere else. Your deck becomes cr*p, Can't fan for s**t anymore. [ I found this at the cost of a brand new tally-ho deck =( ] There is a way however to keep it "normal" again, just leave it on the freezer for 5 minutes and yeah. Normaaal.
-Don't leave your cards under the air-cond, leave them somewhere with air and warmth at the same time, somewhere with fairly good ventilation. Now of course if their warm, I doubt they can fan well. Leave them under the aircond ( not for a long time , just dont leave them under the aircond without using them and your fine. )
-'Frozen' decks work very well with one handed cuts.
-When you fan your 'frozen' decks, and you yourself are feeling very cold, of course your cards fan well, but its not your "skill" thats fanning them, its the cards. They slip fairly well if they're frozen. However, if your fanning a frozen deck of cards, and your hands are feeling normal (37 degree C) , they will fan well, and it actually uses your "skill".
Something fun to do with cards :
What you need = fanning powder, an 'experimenting' deck, and a ruler, and good ventilation (set your aircond to 22 degrees C or just use a fan), and a card clip ( if you dont have one, you can use heavy stuff )
1st, take your ruler, and 1 card, SCRAPE (as hard as you can) the card with the ruler on both sides multiple times until they bend out. What this actually does is that your scraping off some of the Stock of the cards, explained later on.
2nd, repeat this on all of the cards.
3rd,take the bent out cards, apply fanning powder, mix them around, give them a shuffle.
what this does : Replacing the stock with Zinc Stearate (fanning powder), making them easy-manipulated cards, fan very well ( better than when you normally place fanning powder ) , very good for backpalm routines, and lots more good effects. you'll know the difference .
4th : Before you do anything with the cards after 3, put them in a card clip and leave them in your room (still with 22 degree C ) for a few hours ( until they get back to shape ). If you dont have a card clip : use heavy objects such as 10 of your schoolbooks and put your deck under them, until they get back to shape. If you fail to do this, permanent expulsion (joke).
5th: once they straighten out, give them a good spring, a good overhand shuffle, a good dribble, a good faro, whatever you can as long as the powder mixes with the cards.
That's it. Taught on Jeff McBride's art of card manipulation vol.2.
If you buy a deck of cards, here are some tips:
-Fan them a couple of times, newly opened decks fan the absolute best. Enjoy them while you still can.
-Give them a good faro.
-If you dont know how to do the faro, do a riffle shuffle.
-Do some false cuts.
-Give them a spring and a dribble.
-Faro them again
-Put them in good ventilation for 1 hour (preferably air cond temperature 20 degree C)
-Enjoy
Quick Misc Facts:
-DO NOT, NEVER, 'Freeze' your cards after you spring or dribble them or whatever that makes the cards bend. Make sure your cards arent bent before you sleep. If this happens, your cards will be clumped, as in the deck focuses on one side, that if you press them from the other side your hear a Snap sound. Makes the deck very hard to manipulate.
-Wynn Decks : The regular index wynns cant fan for #&$!. Jumbo Index Wynn's can fan decently.
Deck fax :
-Theory11 decks : Warp easily. Red colors are darker than regular USPC decks, very waxy. Nevertheless very good for XCM and flourishes.
-ellusionist decks : warp easily, 6% thicker than regular USPC decks (my theory is because of the dark colors), very good for magic performances (the only thing you have to handle is the people thinking that these decks are gaffed. With the right presentation, you can make them think its just a regular pack of cards )
USPC decks : although they dont have special designs , most of USPC decks are better than custom cards. Tally Ho as an example.
Novelty Cards : never buy them unless its for collections. They're expensive as well.
Magic maker decks ( blue deck, red deck, purble deck, yellow deck ) : I appreciate it if someone who has this deck post a review about these. Thanks.
Pastel Reverse Decks : These looks really great, fan well. To make it short, these babes handle the same as Bicycle Masters only that these are thinner.
I am planning to invest on aJerry's Nuggets reaaaally soon and ill let you guys know what I think.

Re: Playing Card Facts
UPDATE : I've recently got back from Misfits, took me an hour to find, lol. So I bought a Karnival Deck and a Gemaco Deck.
Karnival : One of the best looking decks I've seen. Fan very well, VEEERY excellent for doing flare flourishes, and cuts as well. I am yet to ruin this deck and find out its cons. Although I don't there are any, cause this deck is damn good. Get it , guys
Gemaco : They are similiar to Bee decks. Yah like mr.Admin said, these cards are easy to flourish with, really easy. VERY good for poker cheat tricks, color changes. Also, like Bee decks, it can't fan that good. But at $7 at misfits (quite a good price) it's worth buying it and testing it out
JERRY's NUGGETS review :
I did mention to mindfreak i had a red and blue, red one's fake and the blue one's real. Anyway, that's unimportant. I found a friend who wants to buy it for $65 after i come home from singapore.
So yeah i decided to compile a quick review.
-Back then, each deck costs $1, or even less.
-VERY durable, mainly because its printed on a fairly stiffed stock.
-now, it's damn expensive, reaching over $150 for a deck.
-at first, its veeery hard to "break" in the deck, instead of faro'ing the cards, I just keep on riffle shuffling them.
-Crispier than KoKo Crunch. Seriously.
-Thin ( they handle better than wynn's [ probly one of your favorite decks ]while staying thinner at the same time )
-Plain and simple back design. All you see are simple red or blue all over with the Jerry's Nuggets casino design on them. (the oil towers)
-The Buck twins use them on System and Trilogy because 1) its their favorite cards, 2) they appear nicely or easy-to-see on film. Well this is what they said anyway.
-after having these for 6 months, they're kinda clump and umm, melakat.
Thick decks : Fact : your old, thick worn out decks. You might think they are useless.
Tip: put them under air conditioning for 3 hours, put them in normal atmosphere ( air ) for 10 minutes, and try to fan them. They become easier to flourish with (not as good as when they were new but yeah, they arent useless) and manipulate ( ia licak ).
Tally Ho : known to many as the best cards for Cardistry. I agree. (Although I prefer Hi-Wheel Bikes over these ) Mainly because, no matter how thick, how thin, how warped , how hot , how sexy these cards are, they still feel good and can fan, can be well manipulated with. I think the only problem with these are that they feel "too" good (i.e, bend easily) so fan them carefully and gently.
Hi - Wheel Bikes are the same as tally's but last longer and are more 'licin'-er. However you put .
Kit-kat bars : best for one handed cuts.
Joking.
Extra notes : If you want to 'freeze' your decks, do a fan, dont close it, just put it at the table. I've just recently tried this for 5 hours and there arent any side effects of it.

Re: Playing Card Facts
All of these tips ofcourse will take effect in accordance to how you handle your cards. My friend told me that he wear out his deck after 3 months,my decks usually lasts 8 months to years after intensive flourishing. Just handle your cards at the right conditions and use necessary precautions.Pakai helmet.Flourish dengan selamat.

Re: Playing Card Facts
I keep my 1st bicycle deck, stil new.. Kau pernah liat tu mug. Haha
Masa awal2 dpt black tiger deck, kira bangga la coz that time bkn smua org tedapat. Memandangkan skarang bnyk sudah org terdapat, inda lg ku kisah tentang menjaga deck. Lagipun di brunei, SPADES and MISFITS sudah jd supplier, harga pun berbalui.. And and aku prefer bali deck di brunei daripada order jauh-jauh.

Black Tiger Deck is one of the first decks I ordered (along with 3 Masters Edition deck). Those 4 are the first ever Bikes (and also quality decks) I owned. Mug was right, I was worshipped. Now I have to hate Spades and Misfits, they make people not want to worship me anymore. Hahaha.
